Before yesterday, when I ate lunch with a friend here, I thought I knew what BBQ taste like. I was born and raised in Florida in a SMALL town called Palm Valley. My Grandparents owned a farm and we ate and cooked Southern Style Foods. But It was like my taste buds were Reborn or Awakened! Huge in Taste, Hospitality and Value. Good. We drove down from Nashville today to try the barbecue. The turkey was amazing the pork was a little dry and the brisket was extremely fatty. To justify my concerns I love beef brisket I even like it a little fatty but this was way too fatty. The pork had good flavor but was a little bit dry. The sauce was very good the white sauce was a typical white sauce. They had a roasted tomato pasta salad that was excellent, the coleslaw was coleslaw nothing special.

Please try their pulled pork, slaw, baked beans. Awesome white sauce. Newly decorated but lacks warmth and ambience. Outdoor seating but zero bells and whistles for that. Food very good!

The food is pretty inconsistent. The first time I ordered a rack of ribs there they were dry rubbed, spicy, cooked just right. I was actually pretty impressed. I smoke BBQ at home, and would be proud to serve ribs like these to my guests. The potato salad I grabbed for a side was pretty good too. Not too mushy, pretty savory, a great "homemade" style potato salad. The second time I ordered a rack of ribs and potato salad again, along with a smoked turkey sandwich and green beans. This time the ribs were slathered in BBQ sauce and overcooked. The smoked turkey sandwich seemed pretty good. The potato salad was a bit mushier this time. The green beans were served with a ton of the juice from the pot they were cooked in, like they weren't even strained. This larger order was messed up when they brought it out to us, and we had to wait for them to fix it. The third time I ordered a rack of ribs and potato salad. This time (and only this time) I was asked if I wanted ribs dry or wet. I wasn't even aware that this was an option in my previous two orders. I prefer a dry rub so I ordered that. The ribs were covered in soot and sugar. This was NOT the dry rub I had before. The rib meat was very tough and hard to pull from the bone. The potato salad I ordered was mushy and certainly not the savory "homemade" style potato salad that I enjoyed on my first visit. This restaurant started with a 5 star rating from me, but ended up with 2 stars after a couple more visits.

First let me say, Im from Memphis, so its extremly hard to impress me with BBQ. However I love Jack of hearts. It has always been very consistent. The side items are just okay. The BBQ turkey is fantastic!! I strongly recommend

I am soooo glad this place moved to a new location. Prior to the move I had never tried them and oh had I been missing out. We had the "Man's Best friend and the Turkey plate with killa beans and loaded baked potato salad. Both were great! The turkey is full yummy smoked flavor, tender and juicy. The best friend has a lot going on but fits together perfectly. Hearty, meaty goodness with flavor, spice and crunch. The perfect party in your mouth. 2 for 1 beers are a nice perk too. These is a hidden jewel that I am so glad I found. Yummmmmm!

Let me preface my review with the fact that I want to like this place, but their food quality is extremely inconsistent. The last time I went, I ordered meat and two sides- barbecue, fries, and green beans. The "barbecue" was nothing but fat and completely inedible. Sad day. Either way, I'll never be a customer here again. If you have to eat here, stick to side dishes! P.S. Sorry for the bad review, guys! It really was that bad.

Finally tried Jack of Hearts today. Employees and owner were very friendly and happily answered my questions. We had the pulled pork sandwich, plate and a kids plate with turkey. The pork was good, bbq sauce smokey. I'm not a fan of turkey but my 3 year old ate it up without any complaints. The potato salad was delish--has some kind of meat in it which is a nice surprise. The killa beans are unique and have a nice kick to them. The 2 things I would skip next time are the green beans and fries--less than memorable. Everything else was good and we are ready to go back again. They were offering 2 for 1 beer today too which is always fantastic!
